Support the 2018 Class Project

Each year the Leadership Class is challenged to select a Class Project that will, in some way, enhance the
community. The project is conceived, planned, funded and executed by the class. This is considered to
be experiential learning. Learning that is “experiential” contains the following elements: critical analysis,
the opportunities for class members to take initiative, make decisions, take risks and be accountable for
the results.

One important element of this project is the funding. The class must budget for their project and then
procure those funds. This is planned and executed by the class members only. This year’s project is:

Art and Inspiration Project

The 2018 Class has taken on the Utility Box Art Program initially proposed by the Library, Culture and Arts Commission (LCAC).
This community project will provide a creative space for artists to help beautify existing cityscape of Morgan Hill, by using traffic or electric boxes and transforming them into beautiful works of art.
Sides of boxes will also feature pre-selected positive social messages to showcase Morgan Hill’s distinctive character, and in line with the city’s Strategic Priorities of 2018, to encourage and engage the local community and visiting tourists. This project will also act as a deterrent for unwanted graffiti, uniting a common need in our community.
Local businesses and residents  have the opportunity to sponsor artists to paint ten traffic and electric utility boxes, located in popular areas around town.
