Cricket Rubino to Receive Leadership Excellence Award at 2021 Gala

Cricket Rubino - 2019 Leadership Excellence Award Recipient

MORGAN HILL, CA – Leadership Morgan Hill (LMH) is proud to re-announce that community supporter and volunteer extraordinaire Cricket Rubino will be honored with the 2020-2021 Leadership Excellence Award at a gala evening outdoor celebration/fundraiser at Guglielmo Winery on September 18.  The Leadership Excellence Award recognizes the vision and leadership that advance the spirit of community and charity; reflect courage and insight; and inspire others to lead in a like manner.

Sandra McNeal, LMH Board President remarked: “As a previous LMH administrator, Board member and President, Cricket reflects the values of our organization and supports the LMH mission. The Board is thrilled to be able to honor her for supporting LMH, the community in general and especially our seniors.”

Cricket will receive her medal at a gala September tribute dinner at the beautiful Guglielmo Winery.  In keeping with her love of musical theater, it will have a Broadway theme. Community leaders, supporters of LMH, relatives and friends of the honoree will attend this community celebration to honor Cricket and to benefit the local nonprofit LMH educational organization. Dinner and the award program will be followed by music and dancing.  In keeping with the setting, dress for the event is casual, upscale summer fun.

Cricket is a community treasure. She and husband Mike oversaw the band program at Live Oak High School for over 25 years, winning many national awards and traveling the world. She used her banking background to become a valued substitute administrator for the School District. She then used that experience to open a home-based business writing effective resumes.

Cricket keeps busy. While raising two kids and maintaining their home, she has taken leadership roles as a Chamber volunteer, as board member and president of the YMCA and of LMH, and a dedicated supporter of the Senior Center. As she did to financially support the band way back in the 70’s, Cricket started a weekly bingo game to support Senior Center programs. She formed a non-profit “Friends” support organization and now chairs the Board.

Cricket’s daughter Brandi admires her mom for all she does, and highlights her always helpful nature and her ability to overcome tough challenges.  Son Mikey with his wife Ellen have brought daughters Leah and Lauren to the family, making Cricket a doting grandmother.

The Honorary Committee for the event is overseen by Jennifer Tate and LMH Board member Cinda Meister leads the Event Committee.

Awardees are selected by a blue-ribbon panel of community leaders that includes former Leadership Excellence Award recipients. Funds raised will benefit the non-profit LMH educational organization, now in its 24th year of building community leadership. The annual LMH program provides insight, tools and training that enables and inspires leaders in all walks of life to give back to the community through service. LMH graduates are found in leadership positions throughout the community in government, education, business and nonprofit organizations.
